When you contact me to make an appointment I’ll take some details from you and arrange a convenient time to meet for the first session. It will help if you have an idea of the times when you are available and also a time that you can commit to on a weekly basis.
Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Sessions for couples or families are either 50 minutes or 1 hour. Your first appointment will give you the chance to talk about what is most on your mind at the moment and to see if counselling with me might be right for you. I will ask about what has brought you to counselling now and what you might want to get from it, however, if you don’t know the answers to those questions we can explore this together.
If you decide to carry on, we will then meet on a regular basis, usually weekly. After several sessions (normally 6) we will review how things are going with the option to continue for as long as you need or for a set number of sessions.
If you have been referred by your GP, employer or another organisation they may specify a set limit to the number of sessions.
